10 ways to get more Twitter followers

Twitter is a powerful social network for business. And the more followers you have – meaningful ones – the more exposure you will gain from tweeting.  (Not on Twitter yet? I suggest reading  Twitter 101 first.)

10 ways to get more Twitter followers:

1. Write interesting tweets. This helps you get retweets, Follow Fridays, and be found in search. 
2. Add a bio and portrait to your Twitter profile.
3. Find people you know and follow them.
4. Follow people in your industry and people who tweet about topics you care about.   
5. Once you’ve followed people, interact with them!   
6. Include prominent links to your Twitter on your website.
7. Include a link to your Twitter in your email signature.
8. Include a link to your Twitter in your email newsletters.  
9. Include your Twitter handle on your business cards.
10. Ask your employees, friends and family to follow you.  They won’t be very meaningful followers, but it can help you gain “real” followers.
